I had a plan, I even made a list but for some reason last Saturday I didn’t come home with a new bike (as planned) but with this: a rattan peacock chair. I’ve been dreaming about owning such a chair for a long time, but I gave up my dream a while ago after months of intensive searching to no avail. Finding one in good/pristine shape isn’t easy. Then, on a sunny Saturday morning, when I was checking out rusty old bikes at the weekly fleamarket and negotiating on prices what did I see from the corner of my eye…love at first sight! Yet love is never perfect so yes, 3 twigs snapped at the bottom of the chair but you must admit this one is a stunner.
I got so exited I even started a Pinterest Board dedicated to this exotic piece of furniture and the stars that have taken place in it. Now just imagine me lounging like Elizabeth Taylor in my sunny living room (with a covered midriff that is).
If you are looking for one of your own and have serious money to spent you could check out this website or you could just be patient and who knows one day you might just get lucky. Since life is what happens while making other plans.

Temperatures are on the rise, the days are getting longer and I feel like colour. In my house, in my wardrobe and on my plate. Ladies and gentlemen may I introduce you to the heirloom carrot! Who knew carrots could be yellow, red or even purple. I sure didn’t. Thanks (again) to Green Kitchen Stories, I found my way to another great and healthy vegetarian dish.
To my greatest delight I discovered that the couple behind all those delicious recipes has published their first book available here since April 1st. Can’t wait to get my hands on my own copy but in the mean time there is still their blog and a tasty crunchy bean quinoa and carrot salad.
Instead of lingonberries (rather tricky to find) I added pomegranate seeds and used toasted almonds while the original recipe is with hazelnuts but the base is still the same: crunchy beans, grilled carrots and the fluffy quinoa. If you really want to go deluxe try adding some feta cheese in the end. Devine!
And seriously ultra easy to make. Just mix it all in a bowl and add the dressing.

Even baby Julian is completely mesmerized by the beautifull handira blanket…
This picture is part of a project I collaborated on two weeks ago. It’s also the project which made me get back on my feet, pick up my camera again and continue sharing my pictures on this blog after my winter sleep. There is just so much beauty out there…I can’t keep this all to myself. I hope to reveal more details really soon.
Have a sparkling week!

If you follow me on Facebook you may know I’m hoping to compete for the second edition of the Weekend Blog Awards. In order to do this I need your help. Till April 17th you can nominate Aesthetic Shelter as a contestant. It’s just a matter of clicks this way. Feel free to pick whatever category you see fit.
For those living outside of Belgium (my Google Analytics tells me some of you in the US and Australia like my work…globalisation…I like!). I’ve been reading Weekend Knack ever since I was a teenager. This magazine has been my first introduction to (Belgian) fashion and design. I have issues dating back to the nineties. So fingers crossed…and thank you all for your support and kind words!
